Jason Snell at Six Colors:
One of the downsides of the mobile app revolution is that sometimes there’s no desktop equivalent for a feature that’s available on mobile
Though Jason was writing about being able to now stream TiVo to his Mac and not just his iOS devices, I think this speaks to something I'm struggling with right now.
On iOS, because apps are the way to interact with the device, they have developed powerful ways to work together that just are not happening on a desktop computer. Apps like Workflow and Editorial have become essential parts of what I do daily and they are not available on the Mac.
At the same time, my iPad is still limited compared to my Mac in a lot of ways. Evernote's iOS app for instance has some real limitations compared to its Mac counterpart.
It will be interesting to see if iOS 9 brings enough change to the mobile ecosystem to actually bring me to use my iPad more than my Mac.
